I'm not sure, but if your external hard drive is anything like mine, the drive itself will stop spinning (goes to sleep) after a certain amount of time has passed in which it has not been in use to keep it from overheating and reducing its life span. If you try to remove it during that time, my suspicion is it will tell you it can't stop the drive because it is already stopped. Probably gets confused! Wink But, that's just a guess on my part. If I find anything to verify that, I'll let you know.

The company I work for supplies me a laptop for work purposes. I just got a new one. They took the hard drive out of the old one and put it in an enclosure so I could use it as an external usb drive. When I look at the settings for it, there is just the 2 radio button, not the check box. scratch
