PostSubject: My Microsoft 6to4 Adapter   2/21/2009, 13:28

Hi
I have been getting kicked off my wireless connection. So have dragged out the 25' ethernet cord again. I switched from a regular modem to a wireless modem. Tech support for the cable I have says my levels are good and the modem is working correctly from what they can tell. I have done the whole power cycling thing numerous times and get kicked off. May need to replace my wireless modem because it may not be able to hold an IP. But did some checking into my computer first just in case.

Oh I have Windows Vista javascript:emoticonp('Crying or Very sad')

I generated a system health report it said:

Symptom: X A device can not start
Cause: A device has a configuration problem that prevents it from starting properly.
Details: The device, Microsoft 6to4 adapter, can not start properly, it may not have the correct driver installed or may be a hardware failure. The plug and play ID for this device is 10.

Resolution:
1. Verify Correct driver is installed
2. Try updating the drivers using windows update
3. Check the manufacturer for an update
1.4.Attempt to uninstall and reinstall the device using the device manager.

Device Manager for 6to4 Adapter when I clicked check solutions said the driver could not be loaded.

The #1 resolution I am not sure how to do...

I tried updating my driver says the most up to date driver is installed.

I uninstalled it. Then restarted my computer and then reinstalled it. Still error code 10 can not start.

I have done some searching on the web for Microsoft 6to4 Adapter. Seems there are 2 errors that come up 10 and 31. Seems they can be ignored for now? Because there is no resolution.
Sad Crying or Very sad

Any suggestions?

According to this Microsoft Help and Support Article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932520/en-us

you can safely ignore this problem. I don't think this is causing you to lose your connection.

Holly, try this first:

Click on the Start menu, and find the Command (CMD) prompt, probably under Accessories (I don't have Vista, so I have to go by what I read). Right click on it and select the option "Run as Administrator". Answer yes to the questions to continue. If you can't find the command prompt this way, find the Run box (probably under accessories too), type cmd in the text box and click Ok.

Once the CMD box is open, type in this command at the flashing command prompt:

netsh winsock reset

and press Enter. This will reset your Windows socket TCP/IP stack, which is a set of programming parts that provide an interface between the network and programs on your computer. These sometimes become inaccurate or corrupt and need to be cleared or reset for the computer to regain normal network operation. Once the command has completed successfully, it should tell you to reboot. Reboot and check your wireless connection.

If you are still having problems, answer the following questions and I will tell you what I think you should do next based on your responses:

1. I assume your ethernet connection works ok? Does your computer show that you have good signal strength when you are connected wireless, or does it fluctuate in and out?

2. When did this problem first start? Was it in the last few days, or have you had wireless connection problems all along since you got your wireless modem?

3. Did it work ok until you did the last Microsoft Update? If you have Microsoft Updates set to automatic and you don't know when it did your update, you can check the install date by going into your Uninstall Programs and on the Programs and Features control panel you can select View Installed Updates to see when the February 2009 update took place on your computer (install date in right-most column) and which updates they were.
