I haven't heard from Sheila in a while and just wondering if any one else has? I am kind of concerned about her.

I know that she was having a bad time with Phil as far as being able to take care of him. With Alzheimer's disease, in the late stages it becomes a real burden. They will stay up all night wandering about the house, not eat, become difficult and even violent, no longer recognize their spouse, and have to be watched every minute. Eventually, they become very weak and can't get themselves up, can't bath, can't feed themselves, can't use the toilet, etc. It gets very bad and saps the strength and the will of the caretaker. My friend in Kentucky was at that stage, and he just quit eating. His wife had to put him in the hospital, and finally he ended up at the VA hospital in the Alzheimer's ward. They become very suceptible to infection, and my friend contacted pneumonia. His condition is very serious, and he is now in the hospice next to the VA hospital. Doctors don't know how much longer he will live, but they have told his wife anywhere from a few days to 6 months.

I suspect Sheila is dealing with a similar situation right now, from what she told me the last time I heard from her. I will try to contact her this week and see what her status with Phil is. I will let you know something when I hear from her. Please pray for her and Phil, and also for my friend Larry and his wife Helen. Larry and Helen are like brother and sister to me and Granny. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your friend Larry, Repa!!

No, I haven't heard from her either, but will continue to pray for her and Phil, as well as start to pray for Larry and Helen. It's so sad to hear!

I have been thinking about Sheila quite a bit. I know how hard taking care of someone, especially with mental problems, can be. Not sure moms was Alzheimer's - think it had more to do with the meds and maybe the cancer but at times she was extremely difficult to deal with. I don't know how Sheila does it alone. When mom had her worst spells I had to have my brother come in and stay till she got a little better again. There were time we weren't even able to get out of our pajamas. Just could not leave her unwatched and I was still working (from home). When she was lucid she made it very clear she did not want to go to a nursing home.

I know it is exhausting.

Repa, Ii am so sorry to hear about your friend.

Sheila has been in my prayers for quite a while, I'll pray for you friends also.

I just got an e-mail from Sheila this afternoon. She had computer problems again - and had to get another one. She lost her Favorites and stuff but thinks she can get them back later. She asked me for the link to the board which I just sent. She wanted me to say "hi" to everyone.

She hasn't got her regular e-mail set up yet. The e-mail she sent me was from her hotmail account.

Thanks for letting us know Fay!! Sorry to hear about her computer! What a pain to lose everything!

Does she need people to email her, so she gets their addresses again?

I was going to call her, but stuff kept coming up. Glad she wrote to you! Very Happy

Thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. I must have had a senior moment because I did write a reply in this thread but I must have hit the wrong reply.
I'm feeling a little better today than I have been. It takes so much energy when you are a caretaker of a person with Alzheimer's disease. I'm getting more help this coming week so hopefully things will be a little better for Phil and myself. I found a day care but not sure he will want to stay a few hours a day. He always wants me to take him out such as to the market but I'm with him. So, this is something new and I pray he finds a friend he can talk with and enjoy being out of the house for approximately 5 hours 3 days a week. I figured 3 days would be a good start and not too much for him. I'll know Monday if he likes being away from the house. They say a lot of people feel better at home because they are in their own element so lets hope he can find a friend there and want to go.

Repa I'm so sorry about Larry and Helen. I know there like a brother and sister to you and Granny. It's crazy how this disease progresses, you never know what is around the corner. Phil seems to be in pretty good health otherwise. He is really thin which I think the medicine is the reason. We get meals on wheels 5 days a week and 2 which are frozen for the weekend.

I was trying to transfer emails from Hotmail to Outlook or Windows Mail when I got that call from Jane's daughter. I was doing Janes email when the call came in. I'm really going to miss her. As you are know her daughter got her a laptop which had a web cam built in and the hospital she was in had a conection so she could get online. The last time we spoke she said get your web cam out of the box and set it up. Of course my computer crashed and I got this one which I like and it is quiet. I guess I sort of thinking aloud as I wish I could set it up and talk with her.

I've lost a lot of your emails so if you would please send me a quick email so I can save it to my charter account. Thanks I did think I had most in my Hotmail account but looking today I do not.

God Bless you all, I've missed you all more than I can say. Smile If everything works out ok I'll have more time for the computer. Yea!

Hey Pep I'm happy to see prophoto back. I saw a post when you said I missed being called Pep...
If I can find it I'll say hello! It's so nice to have good news after not seeing someone in such a long time.

Ruth & Fay... Love Thanks a lot for bering you...

Well take care all and remember you are always in my thoughts,
God Bless Ya All,
Sheila Love Flowers

Good to hear from you Sheila!!! Very Happy Glad you like your new computer! It's such a bummer trying to replace everything, though.

I pray that Phil likes the daycare and getting out of the house! I'm thinking though, at first, like on Monday, he'll say that he doesn't like it. It'll just take time for him to get used to the change. So, hang in there! Happy to hear that you're feeling better! Hope that you'll soon feel 100% again!

We all miss you and hope to see you here more!

Love to you too!!!

I will pray that Phil likes the daycare and getting out of the house too!!

The first day will be the most important day, cuase it will be his first impression of it. Dont let it make you feel down if he doesn't like it. Just cheer him along and make him feel that it is a good thing to do.

Good to hear from you too Sheila, sure miss ya but I do understand Love

Hope you like your new computer!! You have to tell us what you got and OS, etc. LOL

Gees! Love Thanks for all the prayers and good wishes. He went Monday and Tuesday and no complaints. Yippie...I was worried both days especially Monday when I had to go my doctor's office. My cell does not ring much because I have a land line and ask everyone to use that phone because I have to watch my minutes. So I had a lot of panic attacks each time the cell phone rang while I was out. I was thinking maybe he is telling them I want to go home but not at all. So thanks everyone now I can relax when he goes. I have him going 3 days a week so he doesn't get overwhelmed. There is another reason I get help respit (not sure of the spelling) but he needs to be here. The girl or women is wonderful, she helps me with the house work and also with his personal care. We are doing the lau dry right now. On these two days I can also go out if I want or need to get away. It's a good thing because being together 24/7 is hard on the nerves...So things are looking up as far as this goes... Excited So I guess he likes it...Yea

God Bless everyone,
Sheila
