PostSubject: Returning Geek   5/2/2009, 15:38

It's been a rough two years during my absence from Geeks. I lost my wife of 43 years last month after a two year battle with cancer. I now find myself with a big empty spot to fill and a need for familiar old friends and surroundings. I have put a lot of things off during that time, so I can't say how often I will be around or how much I will be able to contribute. I also lost touch with much of the tech world and need to take advantage of some of the excellent and friendly wisdom available here.

My life is definitely going to take a different direction now and it's a bit scary to think of starting so many things over. As the sole cook and chief bottle washer I will take full advantage of the recipe section. I thought of all of you many times and wondered what was happening with the crew. I didn't fully realize before how much even casual acquaintances fill in our lives. You can bet that between projects and the mundane business of life I will be signing in for my "Geek fix".

Keith,

So sorry to hear about your wife. I went thru the cancer battle not with a spouse but with my mother and losing her left a big empty hole in my life. I know there are no words that can make things better - and I don't know what else to say anyone except that I am sorry you lost your wife.

Fay

Oh Keith,

I am so sorry to hear about your wife. I am helping my best friend through her husband's cancer battle.

Come in and enjoy. I am just back also. And there have been no expectations on me. You come and contribute what you can or just enjoy the company. Still the friendly place it used to be. Very supportive. I had missed that. Welcome back. You are in my prayers.

I hope I can find at least one word to comfort you in this time of loss and all the other feelings that goes with losing your wife. I understand and feel your pain and will ask the Lord to watch you and the family and ease your pain. I'll pray you get some peace so you can carry on being the head cook and bottle washer. It has only been a month so I can imagine you are still in shock. You have always been such a good person helping all of us. If I can give any advise it would be to stay busy and keep loving your family as you always have done in the past.
I'm going through some very hard times myself so if I did not make sense forgive me. I'll keep praying as I have done since the beginning so you can heal now.

God Bless,
Always,
Sheila
