Repa, you probably dont use it, I know some people were or are a bit leary of it, but I have used desktop weather for several years with no problems. They switched to an app from the .exe they were using and I now have it on this computer, my main computer. I tried putting it on my netbook, it installed but then would not run. It said the resolution was not supported. It was set at 1024 X 600 and could not be changed.

I started doing some searches to see if there was a way around it. Found instructions on how to edit the registry so that it would allow the resolution to be changed, Had to reboot after the regsitry edit.
display_1DownscalingSupported ( not sure I typed it righ here) - change value from 0 to 1.

I sometimes take chances by editing the registy I know - but I figure I can get it restored if I need to.

It worked. It let me change the resolution and weather app now runs on my netbook.
The instructions did warn that the screen may look a little stretched out and that appears to be the case. Not sure yet if it is enough that it will be a problem. If so I can just change the resolution back - but probalby leave the setting so that I can switch it.

The things that can be found with google LOL
Sometimes I can find stuff and sometimes not. I am not really that good at the searches but some times I just stumble on to things.

Repa, I am still impressed at how good of a researcher you are and how much knowledge you have.

Fay

Thanks Fay. Looks like you are doing a good job of researching yourself. About the registry, you don't need to be afraid of making changes, just be careful to follow directions given and always backup the registry before making changes.

I often have trouble figuring out the search criteria to use. I was really suprised when I found how to fix this. I was not even sure it could be fixed since the screen is not as tall and I am sure does not have a very good vidwo card. Was happy to find it though, it works better with the mahjong game I bought too.
