Repa,

Do you know anything about google Chromebook computer with chrome os?
I am not asking you do do any research just wondering if you already know anything about it.
I have a FaceBook friend that is going to be looking for a new laptop and someone suggested chromebook to her. I had never heard of it. Have not read a lot yet, but do not think I would want one. Whether or not it is a good choice, I figure has a lot to do with what a person uses a computer for.
Just wonder if you did know antying and if so what you opinion is.

Fay

No Fay, never heard of it until now. Looks like it is made by Samsung and is pretty cheap.

I think she has decided not to get that but to get something with WIn 8 instead. From waht I saw, it looks like the chrome os was desgined for cloud use. Some posts said people were complaining that they could not access their documents offline - but I think they had fixed that in more recent versions. But then I also think it said - it had to be synced with the documents stored on the cloud. Looks like things are moving toward the cloud, but I do not like it. Not sure what windows apps if any you would be able to install and run on it.

I had never heard of it before either.

I don't like it either Fay, and don't think it is safe. I have a Seagate Goflex Network Storage device that apparently is connected to the cloud and can be accessed from anywhere with the proper logon. One day it just started working on its own - I wasn't using it. So I Logged in to Seagate, disabled the remote access and changed my password. Haven't noticed it doing that since, and I can still access it from my private network. I also have an IPAD that I disabled the cloud on. I think the cloud is a security risk and I want no part of it.

I am starting to be a bit concerned that more and more it is going to go that direction. Sam recently got a new comptuer with win 8. She poseted a message on facebook about having trouble getting something to work without being connected to the internet. I think she fianlly got it to work - but not sure.

Urghhhh I dont like at all.
