| Repa, Recently my wife had heard me mention wild tangent before, & while looking in the Start menu at games that came on new computer, she opened up one and it was the wild tangent line of games. How could that be? As you know I removed them from programs & features list, & I just looked & it is not listed there(which I knew), but checked anyway.
To get them outta the Start menu list, do I click them & delete individually or what? NOTE: I cannot tell which games are the WT lineup just by viewing the games listed there. She might know, unsure, & she's not here. Can you shed some light here, please?

| The only for sure safe games on your computer should be located in
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games
These, you will want to leave alone.
You can find the location of other games by doing a "search" for them by their name on your C drive. They will likely all be in one folder which, after setting a restore point, you can delete the folder if you don't find them in Programs and Features, where you should delete them if they are showing there. You will need to note the names of each game and delete their shortcuts from your start menu. If they are all contained in one folder there and none of the microsoft games, you can just delete the folder, and then run the registry cleaner function on Ccleaner.
If you leave them alone, they are probably harmless if you don't run them since none of your anti-malware scans found them. If you run any of them, you could risk establishing communication with their "home" and possible downloads.

| Repa, I've got 2 screen shots of some of the 20 WT games in the list, & they're the same ones I removed from Programs and Features. Also, they are mixed in with the Microsoft Games listed. I'l post this screenshot, and try looking for the folder tomorrow. After you read this post, if you need to change any of it I'll check fist thing Wed, to see if you posted anything, & go from there. You shopuld be able to see the WT & Microsoft Games mixed in the list together. Thanks. | |

| Those screenshots are the start menu location of the shortcuts to the games (Start > All Programs > Games). If you deleted all the wildtangent games in Programs and Features, then only the shortcuts are left and you can delete them individually and leave the Microsoft games alone. You should have only the Microsoft games remaining in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games if all the wild tangent games were previously removed from Programs and Features. | |

| 1. I can't get the WT games & paint up on the screen at the same time to create the screen shot. When I right click to bring up the menu, Paint makes an exit, & vice versa. 2. I'll have to write what it says. Menu: Play, Run as Admin., Copy, Pin To Taskbar, Pin To Start Menu, Hide This Game, Check Online For Updates. 3. Before I came to the board, I went to (C:) Drive>folders & got a screen shot of the wild tangent folder. Coming up: What will I have to do, delete those folders individually? | |

You don't need Paint up to do a screenshot. You do the screenshot first ([[press the Print Screen key) and then bring up Paint and paste the screenshot into Paint, create a .jpg image and post that here. But never mind now....

What will I have to do, delete those folders individually? You can delete the folder "HP Games" but I don't know if those are the shortcuts in your start menu or not. To get rid of the shortcuts if they are mixed in with the Microsoft games in your Start Menu, click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Games The Games folder will expand in the Start Menu to show all the shortcuts to whatever games are in the folder. Right click on each of the wildtanget games and select Delete from the popup menu, and you'll get a small window asking you to confirm the delete, just as shown in the screen shot below. The only games left on my computers are the Microsoft Games that come with Windows, so I used one of those to illustrate the process for you. The thing to note is that if you don't ever click on any of those shortcuts or links in HP Games, nothing is going to happen, so you can leave them or delete them, it's up to you.

I tried the same screen shot just now & I got it to work, & here it is, even though it might be too late, I wanted to show you. Is this any good to you now?

But, I did get the screen shot, which is quite an accomplishment for me, since the Start menu kept going away when I clicked, oh never miond, I probably lost u.

| Repa, that "It Girl" shortcut was the only wild tangent shortcut in my Start menu, as you saw in my screen shot, & I deleted it. But, the rest of the wild tangent shortcuts are in the other screen shot, & it shows you that the "Delete" option is missing in that drop down menu. Here's 2 screenshots pf HP Games Folders: The first one is at the top of the list, >when I click on C:) drive, called "Genres", the 2nd shot is the last folder in the list, World of warcraft. So, I guess I'll have to "Uninstall" those Folders won't I? But, you can see in the scr. shots where it says "Web Links", & you can see the "Uninstall". I would just rather they were off my computer altogether. Thanks.... | |

| WC, I did that so long ago that I don't remember where all those games are located or where to uninstall them. I don't remember seeing anything like your second screenshot above. I think I got rid of the entire contents of the HP Games folder and the folder in one operation, but don't remember if it was in Programs and Processes, or if I uninstalled each game separately, or deleted the folder and went through and cleaned up the registry manually, or what. Also, the internet is not very helpful on this topic.
If you right-click on one of those "web links" in HP Games, select Properties, and it shows to be a shortcut or a web address instead of an application, then you can just delete the entire folder and run the registry option of ccleaner afterwards.
Did you look in Programs and Features for HP Games, or for the individual game names and unintall them one at a time? If not there, and there is an install button like in your second screenshot above for each of the games, then use those. Or, you can go through the registry and delete any entry with the game name of each game and/or HP Games, and delete the folder(s) they are in, and then run the registry option of ccleaner. But, it will take a long time doing it that way, and I know you don't really want to mess in the registry.
Be sure to set a new restore point before doing anything, whatever you decide to do.

I meant to say "uninstall button."
Set a new restore point, go into the registry (Start > type regedit in the text box at the bottom > click on regedit.exe). Select Edit > Find, and in the text box beside "Find what" type world of warcraft and click the Find Next button. On each entry found, right click on the entry and select delete from the popup menu that appears. To continue to the next entry, press the F3 key. Keep doing that to remove all entries of world of warcraft until you get the message that you are at the end of the registry search. Then, run the registry option of ccleaner.

| Repa, Please let me show you these screenshots of what I did last night before I saw your last instructions post. 1. 2. 3. 4. OK, after Ccleaner scr. shot #3 said "Issue Fixed", I expected the #4 screen shot to show the world of warcraft item in the list removed? Since it is not, I assume I'll have to follow your last post instructions to remove it? I'll wait til you see this to proceed. Thank you very much. | |

| I got on my Compaq laptop to see if I could figure out what your problem is. That display you have for games appears to me to be nothing but trouble and won't let you delete a shortcut from there as they are being displayed as links. You need to change how you access your Games folder and I think you will be able to delete that sucker - here's what to do: 1. Set a new restore point. Then, right-click on Start > select Properties > select the Customize button. 2. On the screen that appears, under Games select the "Display as menu" option. Click Ok, Click Ok. 3. Now, Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Games. The Games folder will expand in the Start Menu to show all the “shortcuts” to whatever games are in the folder as in the screenshot below. 4. From this menu (not from the one you keep showing me), you should be able to right click on “World Of Warcraft” and select Delete from the popup menu; you'll get a small window asking you to confirm the delete, just as shown in the screen shot above. 5. Whether or not this works for you (it should), once you have completed the above instructions, go ahead and go through the registry instructions I gave you in my other post to be certain all traces of this game are gone. | |

| Repa, finally trying to do this. Got a screen shot of what my Games in Start menu looks like, a little different than yours, I think. When I click>All Programs, my games in the left side of the pane is not under> Accessories. As my Scr shot shows my expanded Games are in the Right, shaded Pane, & World of Warcraft is listed there, but it is not listed under the "Games", in the Left, white, unshaded pane. Now, in either the "Games" left pane side or the right pane side, I can right click on any game & get a menu that has "Delete" listed, but, it does not work on the World of Warcraft game, shown there, a right click produces nothing on it. But, a right click on all the other games produces a menu with "Delete" option. I'm gonna give you this scr. shot, & then try going into the registry as you said, & see if that does anything. Or, maybe I should wait until you see this post to see if you want to change any instructions? Edit: Correction, another scr shot, I was wrong the shaded right pane offers no Delete option, for any microsoft games there, & a right click on the World of Warcraft game does not give a menu of any kind. And, the Games list in the left, unshade pane does not even have the World of Warcraft game on it's listing there. Here's a picture of it. Hope this helps.?

| WC, it should work either way. If you click Start > type regedit in the text box where it says "Search for programs and files", regedit.exe will appear at the top of the window and you click it to get to the registry window. If you click Start > Run, then type regedit in the text box and click ok, you will get the registry window. Either way works. | |

| Repa, after I type regedit, I do not get the following: click on regedit.exe). Select Edit > Find, and in the text box beside "Find what" type world of warcraft and click the Find Next button. When I type it in the search box under "All Programs", the start menu converts as a white pad, & says Programs at the top, & it lists a wordpad link of a document of mine. I could not get a screen shot of it. If I get it later I'll post it here. I did get a scr. shot of when I type regedit in "Run". Here it is. Maybe this will help...? | |
