I did not install Java on my new computer. But, for those that have it, I received this from my Avast today.

Sounds serious!

I think this explist has been around fro a while and that is why REPA suggested we disable java. I have it installed on my machine, but disabled. I think the release 11 - that has just been released is supposed to fix the problem. Repa, is tht correct? I may download the fix (release 11), but I may leave it disabled - unless I end up needing it.

I am still on java 6 - did not go to java 7, which is the version in question, java 7-10 currently, to be exact. I have my java 6 version disabled and recommend any version of java be disabled for the time being. I would suggest if you download 7-11, keep java disabled and only enable it if you need it and if the site you need it on is a trusted site until this blows over and we hear more positive news about java.

Repa,

I did download the update, but I also did what you said and am leaving in disabled until such time as I need it.

Here's the latest info I've been able to find on Java. Bottom line, keep it disabled until needed:

Repa,

Thanks for the update. As per you earlier suggesion, I have disabled Java on my computer, but of course that will not help in these kinds of cases. All so terribly frustrating.

Thanks for keeping us informed.
