| Repa, Like you I started a while back sticking with older versions of these Apps....although at one time I was always getting the newer versions of SuperAntiSpyware & Malwarebytes, and the last time they both had a new version of their programs I was not thinking & I got the new versions....
1. Don't you still stick with the older versions as long as they update & work properly?
2. I've always wondered, though, how one is protected from newer threats, if one does not get the newer versions of anti-spyware & antivirus apps?
3. Especially, With these newer versions of SuperAntiSpyware & Malwarebytes, they sure want one to get the new versions as soon as they offer them....they just become a pain trying to dodge the popups saying "Get the new version now"!! or words to that effect...
4. Just would like your thoughts on all this, please???? Thanks........ | |

| The new version of malwarebytes does not hav the quick scan. You have to get the paid version to get it. There may be some added features in Superantispyware and Malwarebytes in the newer versions to look for different types of malware than they did before, but I'd have to read up on that. You get the latest malware definitions, regardless of which version you have. I'd have to read up on both of them to see what's different. I've put the new version of Malwarebyte on my nephew's computer and I don't particularly like it as it takes forever to run. It seems now-a-days that the new, improved versions are more a step backward than forward in a lot of cases. Sloppy programmers creating bloatware that use up system resources instead of good, streamlined programming. You'll have to decide whether you want the newer version or not. MY biggest problem with them is they are much slower than before. Whether they are any better at picking up stuff that they didn't before, I don't know, and that, it seems to me would be based more on how good their malware definitions are than any changes in the program itself. | |

| Repa,
You are exactly right "new and improved" is not always "improved". Lot of times just the opposite. Frustrating.

the above answered my main question...had I previously known that I would not have updated either of them....i'll make sure to becareful and not do the new versions update accidently again....
MY biggest problem with them is they are much slower than before. yeah, I found out the hard way.....
thanks...... | |

Warning! Beware of Download Manager install request in Ad Bar Under Geeks Logo | 10/31/2013, 16:09 by Repa | Just noticed that when I went to logon that there is an ad under the Geeks Logo that says, "your Download Manager might be outdated. Do you want to install it now?" Don't fall for it! Ignore it!
