PostSubject: Forced Avast Update   Forced Avast Update Empty7/2/2015, 10:13

Repa,
1. When I turned my computer on today the desktop had a small window opened telling me to click continue to complete my avast update....they've been telling me that it has been available for some time with the avast popups in the taskbar but I ignored...now forced update again....

2. This new version is current version: 2015.10.2.2218
3. It also mentioned VER 150702-0...

4. When I opened up IE a small box at the bottom said: "The avast Online Security' add-on from Avast Software a.s.' is ready for use. It has Enable / Don't enable boxes. Can you tell me if I should Enable this feature or not?

I hate these forced "updates"

Thanks in advance.!

I don't enable it because it slows IE down. It is something like site advisor. I don't get forced updates because I have settings under Program updates set to manual - Open Avast > Settings > Update > under Program settings > select Manual update. I am currently on version 2015.10.2.2208 and will probably go to 2018 when I have time to check it out.

repa,

What do you mean 2018?
It appears current version is 2015.10.2.2218

Do you mean 2218 instead of 2018?

Fay

Repa,
 1.   I had Manual update Check marked in my previous version....Avast musta changed it....here's a scr shot of how it's set after they did the forced update, & I'll check Manual update after this...

Forced Avast Update Avast_10

2.   Since Avast changes my Manual update Setting & goes ahead & forces the update, what can a body do?......

3.  Don't I need to check the box marked "Scan For PuPs"?

4. Is it OK to have Automatic Updates set for Virus Definitions?

5.  Is there anything else I need to do to any settings?

Thanks!

2. I haven't experienced that problem. You may have had one of the "Ask when...." options checked.

2. I haven't experienced that problem. You may have had one of the "Ask when...." options checked. No, I had my previous version changed to Manual Updates a long time ago when you said to do it that way....

On this new version I have wound up with, I've left most of the settings like it was downloaded to me, & most of them I'm not sure if I need to change any of them or not, so unsure if I should change any more? Any suggestions on that?

Thanks again...!
