--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you have Internet Explorer 7 and is your computer responding very slowly when you view web pages? The computer may respond very slowly as the Phishing Filter evaluates Web page contents in Internet Explorer 7. The Phishing Filter is a new feature in IE7. Discover the cause and resolution of the problem at:

Although I understand the problem, I am not sure about the fix.

Are they saying: Download the the update and disable the pfishing filter or disable if you don't want to download the update?

Jane, as I read it, it says to do the update to resolve the problem, or you can choose the workaround, which is to disable the phishing filter until such time as you choose to do the update.

Well, now I am confused. All of the dates on the update are Jan and Feb of 2007. Shouldn't this already be in my comp if I do auto update. I have to check my update history. Well, yes I do have it. So, why do I still have that problem?

Maybe I should try the disable Pfishing and see what happens. Will let you know.

Jane, the article says to get the latest updates as follows:

To resolve this problem, install the most current cumulative security update for Internet Explorer 7. To install the most current updates, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

If you already have the updates, then disable the phishing filter to see if that is the problem. If that doesn't significantly improve your download time (at 7002kb/sec you shouldn't be having a problem) then you need to look for other causes:

1. Spyware and/or Malware

http://www.freepowerboards.com/geeksmore/geeksmore-about28.html

2. Is your broadband/DSL connection optimized?

http://www.freepowerboards.com/geeksmore/geeksmore-about638.html

3. Is your computer performance optimized?

http://www.freepowerboards.com/geeksmore/geeksmore-about740.html

http://www.freepowerboards.com/geeksmore/geeksmore-about29.html

If, after you have done all the above and you are still having problems, post the specifics here and we'll try to help further. Include computer make, OS, CPU, amount of RAM.

Repa,

All I can say is I'm greedy. I am slower than I was but not that slow. Just thought I would check it all out.

I had just recentloy activated the phising filter - it seemed to make IE7 especially this site - very slow. I just deactivated it and I think that fixed the problem but ill have to use it a little while to be sure.

Jane, what did you ever do? Did you deactivate the phishing filter.

No, I just left well enough alone. My computer is not that slow. As I said before, I am just greedy. I do believe it is running slow now because of all of the photos. I need to clean out My Pictures. It really isn't so slow as to cause problems, just annoying
