Camera Cards? Empty
PostSubject: Camera Cards?   Camera Cards? Empty4/28/2009, 12:55

Hello all,

I was wondering when does one need to change the memory card in a camera?

I'm just asking, as I know pen drives/flash drives has a time expectancy on them, so I would think same applies to camera cards.

I haven't used my camera in a while and i think the photos are looking a bit snowy... could this be a sign?

Thanks

I don't know what would make your card go bad so quickly, no longer than you've had the camera. I've used the same card for almost 4 years with no problem. Perhaps you should try reformatting the card - there should be instructions in your camera manual.

Would reformatting delete information (photos) stored on the card?

Yes, anything you want to keep that's on the card you need to download to your computer before you format. Formating will wipe the card clean. If that doesn't do the trick, get a card from a well-known manufacturer like Sandisk. The sandisk Ultra II or sandisk Extreme III are for serious photographers who want high quality, performance, and reliability. Don't go for the cheaper cards.

Make sure you "reformat" the card with the camera and not the computer. And upload some of those images to your hard drive.

You might want to get some larger memory cards. Cards are cheaper now.
