windows 7 and system image Empty
PostSubject: windows 7 and system image   windows 7 and system image Empty4/10/2010, 21:24

I am working on a TODO list for when my computer gets here -things I need to install, backups to do etc. One of the things that can be done is to create a system image. Does the system image inlcude WINDOW 7 itself? If the harddrive crashes and a new harddrive has to be installled, can the system image be used on the new drive. Will that set up windows 7 and other apps that have been installed?

Yes

Yes

Yes. You can take a snapshot of your Windows partition which will contain Windows and all the programs along with settings and files. This is a similar functionality that is provided by software tools like Acronis or True Image to backup your computer and restore it when something goes wrong. You can even select other partitions or drives to include in the backup besides your C drive except the partition to which you are doing the backup (like on an external HD).

You'll need to create a recovery disk too. Here's some reading about this if you haven't already found it:

Repa,

I had read some similiar artilces not sure if it was specifically those.

I have on my todo list - one of the first things is to create a recovery disk and a system image . I have several steps to migrated data and then install stuff. THen my last stepp is to create another system image.

I just couldn't tell for sure if the image really inlcuded backing up windows and if it could be restored to a new disk or if it had to be the same disk.

Thanks,
Fay
