PostSubject: Create a quick shutdown shortcut   10/17/2008, 23:24

Please feel free to comment or something. Using this process is totally cool because once I was playing a game on Yahoo and the next thing you know, someone started sending me all kinds of stupid messages at once. That continued to cover my monitor. I was like..."awwwwwwwwman". If it wasn't for this little shortcut, I think my computer would have crashed.

Anyway, check this one out though.

This tutorial will put a shortcut on your desktop to shutdown your computer without having to wait for such a long time:

Right click on the Desktop.
Left click on New > Shortcut.

In the Type the location of the item: textbox enter
%windir%System32shutdown.exe -s

The -s parameter is used to shut down the computer.

The following two parameters can be used with -s:
-f Forces running applications to close without warning.
-t xx Set timeout for shutdown to xx seconds.

The following command would shut down instantly.
%windir%System32shutdown.exe -s -f -t 00

Click the Next > button.

In the Type a name for this shortcut: textbox enter
Shutdown My Computer (or some other name of your choice)

Click the Finish button.

You should have a shortcut on your desktop.
