| I just wanted to let everybody know that HP is beginning to have some Windows 7 classes - two so far, and several more to come according to Ed Tittel. Anybody in a "classy" mood? I took the "Migrating to Windows 7 from XP" AFTER I had already done it and I can really recommend if you are planning to move to Windows 7, to take the class first. Also, if you are in the habit of buying How-to books for your operating system, here is a place where you get really good deals right now: http://oreilly.com/ | |

| How are you liking Windows 7 Rike? I haven't read anything negative about it. | |

| I really like it. But I did like Vista, too! Never had any problem with it, though I had it only on my laptop, which I wasn't using too often. But I think Windows 7 is quite "perfected", and what I like most about it (in the short time I had it) - it boots in seconds and it shuts down in seconds! I have the 64 bit Professional, plus a new computer, so all of that might contribute to the speed, but by now I don't know how I ever could be so patient as to wait for XP to "just get going...". I am hoping HP will add some Windows 7 Tips and Tricks classes so I can learn the less obvious shortcuts and improvements. I also ordered a book, because I really think this OS can make (computer) life easier. I have the upgrade for my Vista Laptop, too and will get it installed shortly; I will let you know how it worked. I am lurking at HP Learning Center now, waiting for some more Win 7 classes. | |

| Rike, Have you looked into the classes offered at About.com? I have found them to be more insightful and helpful than Hp classes... the teachers also seem to be more "there" than at HP Plus they dont get rid of old material http://u.about.com/Not only do they offer courses, but they offer tips & tricks newsletters, links to other informative sites and inform of when classes or courses are starting for enrollment at Academic online training schools. Check them out... they have a wide array to offer | |

| Thanks, Samantha. I do get some newsletters from about.com, but it's been probably years since I checked into their classes and at that time I didn't like the way they were set up. I will check again, though - that's why I like the Internet: to learn new things. By the way, the HP classes seem to be different now, too; at least the last two I took, they give you access to all the classes right from the beginning, then you can really go at your own speed. And they also offer PDF downloads of the class material, that way you can save it and look up the things you forget. I'm going to about.com right now! | |

Warning! Beware of Download Manager install request in Ad Bar Under Geeks Logo | 10/31/2013, 16:09 by Repa | Just noticed that when I went to logon that there is an ad under the Geeks Logo that says, "your Download Manager might be outdated. Do you want to install it now?" Don't fall for it! Ignore it!
