PostSubject: Microsoft Visio   Microsoft Visio Empty12/29/2010, 17:08

I got approached by a recruiter for a local outsourcing company (yeah bounce sent my resume etc part time but should work around my Demo job. bounce ) and one of the things they had in the "ad" was for someone who knows Microsoft Office (not a problem) and Visio. Visio was the only part of the requirements that I didn't fit.

What is it? What does it do? Does anyone have any experience?

Microsoft Office Visio, is a diagramming program for Microsoft Windows that uses vector graphics to create diagrams. You can read about it here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Visio

The 2010 standard version starts at $250 at

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/visio/visio-2010-buy-page-FX101836377.aspx

but you can find the 2007 version at yahoo, eValue, etc. for under $100. Beware of any free trial download sites. You can also buy the 2010 standard software version at Staples for $250.

There is an Open Office Alternative - Draw - which is part of the Open Office package

http://www.openoffice.org/product/draw.html

in fact there are a few other alternatives out there, but the only site I know about is Open office. There is one listed there (Dia) that seems to be designed to be much like the commercial Windows program 'Visio'.
