| No, W.C., don't know what you are talking about. Where did it come from? | |

| Sure, go ahead and install it. I don't have automatic updates turned on, so don't get those messages. I do updates once a month when they come out, or if I get a newsletter from Microsoft telling me that there is a new critical update that needs installing before the regularly monthly updates come out. | |

| Applications written with the newer versions of Visual Studio or applications using a .NET language (VB.NET, DELPHI.NET, managed C++ or C#) make a lot of runtime function calls to what’s known as the .Net Framework. So without it, these applications won’t be able to execute properly. SP1 in this update refers only to the .net Framework, not Internet Explorer. Whether you need this or not depends on what applications are on your computer. This is an optional software update, not a critical update, so it is your choice as to whether or not you want to install this update. It is offered whether or not you already have earlier versions on your computer. Take a look in your Add/Remove programs, and if earlier versions of "Microsoft .Net Framework" aren't there, then you likely don't need this update. If earlier versions are there, then you may want to consider downloading and installing the update. Some new video drivers require .net Framework in order to download, install and operate properly. Those written by ATI Technologies, Inc. for their Radeon series display adaptors come to mind. This update claims to increase performance between 20-45% for WPF-based applications. You can read about some of the WPF-based applications available here: http://www.microsoft.com/emea/msdn/thepanel/dadk/featured/wpf_cornucopia.aspx | |

| Don't know, WC. They may have been installed on your computer when you bought it, or you may have installed them if you ever had Automatic Updates turned on. Net Framework came installed on my laptop when I bought it last year. My older computers don't have it. | |

| hey Repa, i clicked on your link, but i'm afraid it did not get much out of it. i don't know that i use any of those WPF-based applications shown there.
would you recommend that i unstall it since i already have Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1 Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1 HotFix(KB 928366) Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1???? or would you just not install. i can't make a decision? help. |

| If everything is working ok, just leave things as they are. The update is optional, so your choice as to whether to do it or not. You apparently don't need it. If you need it in the future, it will still be there for you to download. | |

Warning! Beware of Download Manager install request in Ad Bar Under Geeks Logo | 10/31/2013, 16:09 by Repa | Just noticed that when I went to logon that there is an ad under the Geeks Logo that says, "your Download Manager might be outdated. Do you want to install it now?" Don't fall for it! Ignore it!
