| I found a template on Joomla! that my "client" likes also. Now, I'm confused about that this what software is required: Adobe Photoshop CS+; Adobe Dreamweaver 8+ (or any php-editor); Joomla! 1.0; For uncompressing a template ZIP package: WinZip 9+ (Windows); Stuffit Expander 10+ (Mac);
If I just modify it, why do I need Photoshop? Also, I don't have Joomla! 1.0...do I have to download it? Why? I don't understand. Is it free to dl? Where do I find it? For WinZip, do I just go to their website to download it? Is it free? I also forgot which "one" to open to get the template once I buy it. If I remember right, there are a whole bunch of files and such after it is unzipped.
I haven't bought the template yet...I wanted some info first. Thanks!! | |

| Well I know that Joomla is an open source solution that is freely available to everyone. I remember Wwe said he used it or still is, I havent. I did a google search and you can read more of what it does. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=joomla&aq=f&oq=&aqi=However, I dont understand your questions. Maybe that specific template was built using all those softwares and therefor must be edited in the same manner. Perphaps if you were to provide the link we can see more details of it. And your computer has winzip.... I am sure... and from what I see the template seems to be in php Stuffit is something like winzip, it decompress zip archives. It you have winzip you will not need stuffit... both are free btw Remind me of your OS again

| From what I can tell, I have to buy it for $45 because I can't use free ones for sites that are for profit. So, it can't be downloaded until it is bought. | |

| Ruth, I asume the homepage from where that template belongs to is from http://info.template-help.comAt that site... there is a "Live support Chat"... I think they would cover all your questions as all I can do is assume from what I am reading. a) this template can be edited using the following sources as it says here: Sources Available: .PSD and/or .PHP;PSD is a Photo Shop Document PHP is a scripting language b) The software requiere to edit this template are these Adobe Photoshop CS+; Adobe Dreamweaver 8+ (or any php-editor); Joomla! 1.0;Seeing that this template is also editable in photoshop you would need a Photoshop CS+ version, plus any php editor and/or Joomla 1.0 What is unclear to me is if you need all these 3 softwares to edit this specific template or just one... that you will have to ask the provider c)For opening the zip template you would either need WinZip 9+ (Windows) or Stuffit Expander 10+ (Mac) | |

| LOL.... Ruth!! You know the rules here.... and hey.... sometimes we all get confuse with the way how people write things Well Ruth... I've been thinking.... the template is from a Joomla site... so you will need that software to edit it. Photoshop is used I guess because of graphics and slicing DreamWeaver 8 or higher for the language... which is PHP but Joomla.... I never used it.... I thought it would take care of both the language and slicing Wwe... exaclty what does Joomla does?! | |

| Joomla is a content management system... you install it to your server, and install the template from it which is really easy(but you need to find templates for 1.5 as thats the ewest one its more secure and so on) and you build your pages and what not though its control panel. Then if you wanna change the template, its easy just install a new one and set it as default... all pages change! | |

| Thanks Wwe That sounds cool and easy once you learn how to use it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So Ruth... yep... you are going to need all those softwares to edit that template... plus know a bit of PHP, though WYSIWYG editors makes things easier as well. You will be needing to take better courses and keep up to date with all the programs out there. There is a site out there I like, but you have to pay for the better and complete courses http://www.learnwebdevelopment.comCheck them out... they teach everything in the field | |
