| To my knowledge, colors and backgrounds work in the web layout view only, one page at a time, and does not work for printing colored document pages. | |

| Ok, I have Word 2000, which will only color pages in web layout. If you have MS Word 2007, this website tells you how to do it for document pages: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/microsoft-office/add-background-color-to-word-2007-documents/If you don't have the options mentioned on that web page, you can color a page in web layout, but it won't be a normal document page, it will be a web page, and it cannot be printed: Format > Background and then choose the color you want. | |

| wwe,
I saw a discussion of this, I think it was in the link that Reap posted. After the article people were posting different questions about it.
One suggestion was to create a text box or a rectangle shape that covered the entire page, set the background color and send it behind the text.
Don't' know how well it will work for you, but you might give it a try.

| Wwe, Fay is on to the solution. I finally had a little time to work on this with a word document. This is what will work:
1. First, you create your document with at least 2 pages by inserting a page break (Insert > Break > Page Break), or you can press the enter key until the second page appears.
2. Then, put your cursor at the beginning of the first line of the first page.
3. Select the Text Box icon (bottom menu bar) or you can select it by Insert > Text Box and define the text box on the first page from the top left corner to the bottom right corner of the first page.
4. Select your color using the down arrow of the Fill Color icon (bottom menu bar) and the entire page will become whatever color you selected.
5. Set your left and right margin for the text box you defined (which is now the entire first page) by using the tabs on the ruler at the top of the page and type whatever you are going to type on that page.
6. Then, you can go to the second page and continue your document in white background only.
Note: you can also change the fill color after you've typed your text without affecting the text - the fill color is set in the background.
Actually, by repeating steps 1-5 above for each page, you could make every page in your document a different color if you wanted to.
Hope this helps! | |
