How would I go about saving our Bookmarks to CD? Is there a website with instructions, or......

Repa,

I burned a couple of copies of my bookmarks, on 2 separate cd disks. After each one completed, the CD drawer opened up.
The CD's I have are CD-R, 80 Minute / 700MB.

1) How would I know when I have a CD filled up to capacity?

2) And, I think I'm supposed to just place the same CD back in the Drawer, if I want to copy additional data on them.?

Just like on your hard drives: Insert a cd into your cd drive. Open My Computer > right-click on the cd drive and click Properties in the popup window that appears. On the General Tab, it will tell you how much free space and used space you have on the cd that you have inserted in the drive.

Not on a CD-R. Only on a CD-R/W. The CD-R can only be used once, meaning once you copies files to it, you cannot copy files to it again at a later time.

Thanks! I didn't know that's how to check Free space on the CD's.

1) As I mentioned, the blank CD's have 700MB of space, and the bookmarks only used 846 KB's and free space left was 679MB. That sounds like a lot of wasted space left on that use once CD.? EH?

2) I'm thinking that I could erase the second copy and then reuse the CD. Is that correct?

No, you cannot re-use or add to a CD-R. Once you've written to it, that's it. You can't put additional files on it, you can't erase it - it cannot be re-used. You need to get CD-R/W disks. Those can be added to or erased and re-used indefinitely.

Do you have a free USB port, if so have you thought about using a thumb drive, you might ask Repa what he thinks about that.

Thumb drive is fine. They are pretty cheap now, about a dollar or less per gigabit of space and frequently go on sale at Staples. They may be cheaper at Walmart. Acts like a hard drive, but you can remove it and use it on another machine. You can also use it as an extension of RAM on Windows 7 machines that is faster than the virtual memory pagefile.

There is not a lot to have to know. You just insert them into a USB slot, and you can drag and drop to it. You can delete stuff, add stuff etc - just like with your hard drive.

I have a couple of them - the smaller ones one be plenty big for your purpose, they hold more than a CD, and they are pretty cheap.

Some of them have caps that protec the part that insert into the computer. Some of them come off, but I prefer the one that have the retractable end. I would lose the cap.

I saw some 3G ones on the WalMart site with the retractabl eend - for about 5.00. I have not looked at Amazon etc.
