I guess I am missing something. What kind of e-mail are you talking about. What did it say?

I did not cancel mine, so the update install was downloaded on my computer. Then later , Then later a notice poped up telling me it was ready to install. Think I had to click on it to install, but since I wanted to install it , I did not look to see if there was a way to not have in install.
But I do not understand about the e-mail you got- was it just telling you that you could download if you wanted?

Fay, you may remember that I canceled my "10" reservation, but, since then I've received 2 emails from Microsoft that basically says You’ve reserved Windows 10 – what’s next? and they're acting as though I did not cancel my reservation...it also says: You’ve already reserved, so your free upgrade is on the way. This is the largest software upgrade event ever and we’re managing it so everyone has a great experience.
Your notification to upgrade could come as soon as a few days or in a few weeks.

So I had asked Repa if there was any way they could put it on my computer even though I canceled....I really don't think that is possible....just thought he would know....

wc.

Not sure why you are getting that since you cancelled.  I think Repa had you uninstal some updates.
I did a quick search about preventing windows 10 download an it said to uninstall KB3035583.  That is probably the one Repa had you get rid of .  If not, uninstall that.
But I do not think that is the one that actually download win 10,  I am not sure what it is.

It ended up popping a window , I think I had to click on to actually install but not sure.
There should be some way you can check to make sure it is cancelled, but I am not sure how.
Wish I could be more help

hmmmm, just found this while doing a search

scammers impersonating Microsoft have begun sending out emails informing individuals that they are eligible to upgrade to Windows 10. The email appears to come from an official Microsoft address, update@microsoft.com,

But I doubt that is what your e-mail is, I think it said this one had a fake update attached.

Yes, this is the uninstalled KB3035583, & it's my understanding that you have to have it installed in order to get the free 10 upgrade...so I should be good...
Thanks fay!

WC,

I think you are doing the right thing by not doing the upgrade now.

I have 2 FB friends, that I know of that installed the update. One has a computer degree and is dealing with issues, but had to take her expensive tablet in Microsoft to get it fixed. The other is not very computer literatee, at least I do not think so, she just posted that she reverted to 7 - too many problems to deal with right now. I do not know how she reverted to 7 , did not ask. Not sure why she chose to do the upgrade.

And as I said , I am not doing it to my main computer.

I told my sister and brother-in-law there is probably no reason for them to do it. They do not use their computer much and do not like to deal with computer problems.

I have to try to take some time to play around with it some. Gotta work up the energy to do that.

Fay
