Repa,

I've never updated to Internet Explorer 8. We don't use IE much but, still have version 6.

Don't I need to upgrade to Ver. 8?

Well, I installed it a couple of weeks ago on 2 of my computers and had problems with both of them after installing, so IE8 is no longer on my computers, and I'm not having any more problems. It's up to you, WC.

My computer came with Vista and IE7, I did the upgrade to IE8 many months after the "forced" upgrade and have not enconter any problems to this date.

I also have an old computer with 'XP Home Edition' which was on SP1, I did the upgrade all the way to SP3 and then also upgraded the browser to IE8... no problems there either.

I may add that according to Mayor Geeks many websites will no longer be supporting IE6 (Google mail among them), they added that IE8 has impoved a lot and is now consider one of the safest out there.

Its always good to have 2 browsers on your computer and I know you like FF... lol

1) Repa, That's what I was looking for. That's the reason I didn't install it with the other updates, until I could get your input. I almost went ahead and installed it though.
So, did you re-install IE version 6, like I've still got?

2) What will you do when Windows stops supporting IE6?

3) And, when will IE6 support take effect?

4) Hey, Sam. Yeah, I do like FF!

Because I had problems doesn't mean everyone will have problems with IE8. I found it slow, and was occasionally having trouble booting up, and problems with system restore. Don't understand the relationship, but when I got rid of IE8 the problems stopped. When you uninstall IE8, IE6 is still there - I didn't have to do anything.

Some websites no longer support IE6 either, so you can run into problems there. Firefox is the answer to that when I have that problem. When IE6 is no longer supported, I'll try IE8 again. It may work better if I install SP3 - just haven't wanted to fool with a system that has been working so well as it is, and you can run into problems with SP3. I haven't read up on those yet or how you resolve them if they happen.

Well, since I use Firefox all the time anyway, is there any need to even try the IE 8 upgrade?

Me neither... as I said... I did it on two of my computers, with different OS and they are fine.

The only thing is that you will always get the notification to upgrade... and as recommended... people should have at least 2 browsers, FF has encounter a few problems down the road... I know a few people that has.... at the end of the day... its up to you Smile
