AVAST used to insert a message into the e-mail saying it had been scanned. I think I had to put something in the settings to tell it to do so. Looking back at my e-mail it seems that at some point it quit appending the message. I can't seem to find a setting to tell it to add the message.

Am I missing something, or did it actaully change soemtime ago so that it no longer puts a message in the e-mails?

Fay

Something may have changed, but there are settings in Avast for this, and they weren't turned on by default in my Avast. Here's how to get to them:

From the Avast main window, select Realtime Shields > Mail Shield > Expert Settings button > Program Behavior. In the larger pane to the right under General, select the options you want and click ok.

Repa,

I found those settings, and everything is checked to be scanned.
On the expert settings screen I have 3 check boxes to indicate what mail I want scanned.
inbound mail (pop3, imap4)
outbound mail (smtp)
newsgroup messages (NNTP)

They are all 3 checked. But, I think at one time thre was a place to tell if you wanted a message inserted saying it has been scnned.
What version of Avast do you have - I have 5.0.507. Does you e-mail still have a message inserted saying it has been scanned? I may still be missing something.

Thanks,
Fay

Well, not sure what you mean. I have the same version of Avast as you do. I sent myself an email from Outlook to Hotmail in a reply to an email I receivedin Outlook. Here are the Avast messages that were added to the end of the email:

avast! Antivirus: Inbound message clean.

Repa,

Fay, I just noticed that the 3 settings you have checked are on the Main Settings page. Right under Main Settings in the narrow column to the left of the pane indicating the 3 settings you mentioned above is a selection for Program Behavior. This is where I had to turn on the settings under the heading General. Here's a screen shot of where these settings are:

Repa,

Looks like we were posting at about the same time. I went back to take another look after your previous post, and took a little closer look like I should have done before Sad

Thanks for your patience,
Fay
